Ellie Shea, a junior representing Emerging Elite and Belmont High in Massachusetts, won the 5-kilometer girls championship race at the CHAMPS Sports Northeast Regional at Van Cortlandt Park in New York. Shea, who was sixth at last year's regionals, clocked 17:10.7 to become the first regional winner from Massachusetts since Sydney Masciarelli in 2018. Shea secured a return trip Dec. 10 to Balboa Park's Morley Field in San Diego to compete in the CHAMPS Sports Cross Country Championships.
